Returning to the UK for a couple
of shows to promote their Live In England album, recorded on their last
trip to these shows back in 2007 Warrior Soul, and in particular
frontman Kory Clarke, were right on form. Despite sounding like he was
suffering from some sort of throat infection Clarke delivered a sterling
performance, any problems not deterring him
from putting
every ounce of effort and emotion into the show. Clarke simply acted out
the lyrics and delivered each vocal line as if each one really matters,
saluting the middle finger at any given opportunity.

The moderate,
but passionate, turnout were treated to ‘I See The Ruins’, ‘ We Cry
Out’, ‘Downtown’, ‘Trippin’ On Ecstasy’ and ‘Lullaby’ from their debut
album, Last Decade Dead Century some of which, as Clarke announced
hadn't been played in a very long time. Back in the day Warrior Soul
were one of those bands that never quite reached the heights they should
have, Clarke venting his
frustration at this
injustice from stage, butr they also created some amazing songs that
have certainly stood the test of time, sounding as fresh today as when
they were written. ‘Love Destruction’, ‘Punk And Belligerent’, a
wonderful rendition of ‘The Losers’ and the closing ‘The Wasteland’ were
worth the entrance fee alone.

In Dudley
Clarke et al simply did everything right. Energetic antics, good sound
and a good band all coming together to make a damn good show. What also
helped was the fact that the band seemed to be enjoying their time
together on stage, not to mention the great songs. Judging by the
quickly forming queue at the merchandise stand after the show the crowd,
who had been appreciative all night, would no doubt be in full
agreement.
