A change of pace for
us here at the HardRockHouse.com for tonight's gig, being that everything
that was to follow this evening was acoustic in nature. First up were Change
of Shade, a (local?) duo who showcased their mixture of slower numbers and
mid-tempo tunes to a small but appreciative crowd, everything they played
tonight was tuneful, excellently played and sung and have certainly made
this reviewer make a mental note to check them out next time they play
locally.

After a short break it was Ricky Warwick's turn to (gently) rock the
joint, despite being a little hoarse after playing back to back gigs
with The Almighty (by his own admission, I don't think we, the punters,
would have noticed to be honest) Ricky was on top form launching
straight into "Johnny Or Elvis" the opening track from latest
CD "Love
Many Trust Few" and all the way through to closing with Johnny Cash's
"Folsom Prison Blues" this was entertainment from start to finish.

Even breaking a guitar couldn't stop Ricky from engaging the audience
with his affable onstage banter (he'd previously broken what looked like
a string on his main guitar and did the same with the replacement guitar
a little later in the set only to find that he'd actually broken the
tuning pegs on the first one!!) after a quick string change he launched
into the Almighty favourite "Wild And Wonderful" which gained him the
most enthusiastic response of the night from the crowd.
As well as giving us tracks from both solo albums we were also treated
to a slow acoustic boogie version of Iron Maidens "Running Free" in a
well paced, enjoyable, set. Even in a solo acoustic setting Ricky
Warwick exudes charisma and star quality and also has some great stories
to tell!! Highly recommended!!
