The Daniels
Review Dean Pedley
|
Wolverhampton based, The Daniels were once the ‘house’ band on Kerrang’s Breakfast show and ‘Lights’ is their second single to date. With a worldwide distribution deal in place with Sweden’s Turmic records an album is in the works for early next year and they have hooked up with Editors producer Gavin Monoghan. ‘Lights’ is an unremarkable tune that drifts along at a fairly pedestrian pace for the first three minutes or thereabouts before the band finally pick up the tempo and start to sound like they actually mean it for all of the last 20 seconds. There is no real hook and as a lead track it’s something of a disappointment. ‘Took Me For A Ride’ manages to inject a bit more urgency but the vocals come across as nothing more than a whinge and it all ends up sounding rather flat. ‘Lights’ was released on 19th November Contact: www.myspace.com/thedaniels |
