Gargamel
Review Freez

This three song label-less CD is from Orlando nut jobs Gargamel. They don’t tend to take life too seriously, probably being surrounded by bright orange pensioners has that effect on you. Coming on like early System/Zappa with some thrash and digital tricks thrown in, this is good fun and well worth a listen. Only three tracks, all from the same school of rock, stop, start, noisy guitar with barmy vocal barking/shrilling/singing. The first is “Cold & Twitchy” which as a Chilli Pepper groove then manic brilliance. “Da Devilz Balls” follows on with an almost 10CC deep voiced spoken intro before we kick into comedy thrash mode to good effect. Final track “Rainy Day Fun Book’s” staccato guitar refrain and barked vocals offer up something more traditional but none the less interesting. The middle eight is splendid System style silliness and works. Check out the names of the band, this should confirm that we are not in rock-poser and tousled hair territory, great fun and worth a listen. Contact: www.myspace.com/gargamel
