Celtic Legacy are an Irish outfit delivering play heavy metal with Celtic overtones. In fact imagine Iron Maiden jamming with Thin Lizzy and throw in a bit of early Queensryche and you’ll land somewhere near the sound of Celtic Legacy.

Guardian Of Eternity is the band's third alum and the follow up to Resurrection which was released in November 2003. The line up which recorded that album only lasted a further eight moths after it’s release and it’s take until  now to find the right line up and the resources to record this album.

The album opens with the ubiquitous short instrumental The Sentinel, which you could imagine being used in the Highlander movies, which then turns into the heavy Thin Lizzy does Iron Maiden vibe of Celtica. The main reasons for the Iron Maiden comparisons that run through this album is down to the vocals of Ciaran Ennis which are very much Dickenson-esque and likewise the twin guitar work of Dave Morrissey and Keith Hendley again is reminiscent of Maiden in places and could be classed as the typical twin guitar heavy metal attack.

Other stand out tracks on the album are King Of Thieves, very much in the style of The Warning era Queensryche, Erinmor with it’s slow almost Mark Knopfler style opening that builds and builds into a mammoth track and then there's the epic title track Guardian Of Eternity which closes the album and really shows the band's own style starting to shine through.

Guardian Of Eternity is an album that fans of classic heavy metal, and Iron Maiden n particular, will certainly find appealing. The only downside here is with the production. It’s not bad by an means I just feel it lacks the power that the material deserves. Mind you given the fact  that the band had to finance the album themselves with help from their fans is not really surprising and in this instance is certainly forgivable..
