Escape Music will release Alliance -The Road To Heaven on April 21st

Escape Music is very pleased to announce the long awaited release of the brand new Alliance album "Road To Heaven". "It is very exciting, now that here we are in 2008, some ten years after the first Alliance CD and the band is recording music as fresh as ever. Road to Heaven is a very worthy third CD, and is chock full of powerful melodic rock music. Somehow these guys just seem to bond in a way that brings out the best in each band member. Tracks like “Road to Heaven”, “Anything Goes” and “Comin' Home” are some of the best songs the band has recorded to date."
The members of Alliance are icons in their field. Their line-up is unchanged in ten years: Robert Berry (Solo, Hush, GTR, 3, Ambrosia) / Gary Pihl (Boston, Sammy Hagar) / David Lauser (Sammy Hagar) / Alan “Fitz” Fitzgerald (Night Ranger). A very impressive pedigree indeed, and the quality of the music needs no further introduction...
Alliance is possibly the band to successfully take this form of music into the future. What makes them more interesting is that the four musicians involved have such a high profile, and have all been involved with some of the biggest names in rock history. In fact, they still are connected to many famous bands, and despite hectic schedules they still manage to find time to devote to this very special band, Alliance. So who are these four people? First of all drummer David Lauser has spent most of his career with the Sammy Hagar Band, both touring and recording. Alan “Fitz” Fitzgerald needs no introduction; many of you will know that he plays keyboards for Nightranger and his work is unquestionably brilliant. Guitarist Gary Pihl has also worked with Sammy Hagar in the pre Van Halen days, but more importantly perfectionist Tom Scholz asked him to join Boston. His work can be heard on the later Boston albums. As for band leader, and lead vocalist, Robert Berry, he has become an icon in the rock world.
Robert's work stems back to the late seventies, when his band “Hush” recorded a couple of albums, which never really got the attention they deserved. Escape Music released a CD in February, 1998 (“Hush” ESM 027) which helped lost recordings see the light of day. It was obvious that the band was way ahead of its time. Since then, Robert has become a household name in progressive and melodic circles. He has recorded at least three solo albums, recorded an album with Keith Emerson and Carl Palmer (of Emerson, Lake & Palmer) under the name of “3”. Robert now has his own studios, “Soundtek”, and this is where the first Alliance album was recorded for Escape Music (Alliance ESM 012).
This exquisite piece of work has gone on to become a much-loved recording and an essential part of any serious CD collection, so much so it has completely sold out. The second album, called “Missing Piece” (ESM 048) was a massive leap forward for the band. Somehow, Robert took a whole new approach to the Alliance sound and honed it into a melodic force to be reckoned with. The song structures remained simple and uncluttered, yet created an aura of beauty and intense harmonies. You would only have to listen to the first song “I'd Give Anything” once and you would be singing it for weeks after. Indeed the album “Missing Piece” is still an inspiring piece of work. Yet, as a listener you feel that the best is yet to come. Recently the first two CD's have been combined into a digipack, re-mastered and given lavish new artwork. Oh, yes, and eight bonus tracks! This is a great way of catching up with the band if you missed out on them the first time.
The full track listing for The Road To Heaven is as follows:
Road to Heaven, I can Breathe, Make a Stand, Anything goes, Like me like that, Broken Glass, We Don’t talk, Comin’ Home, Nothin’ Else, Walkin’ away, Remember those days, Not done til its done and Much more innocent

Released on Feb 4th Hold On’ is the second single from Korn's latest untitled album. Described as "a song of empowerment", the message in ‘Hold On’ stems from Jonathan Davis' near-fatal blood disorder in 2006. Munky describes the song as "the closest thing to an original Korn song" on the untitled album due to its rhythm. It is one of the four songs on the album to feature Brooks Wackerman of Bad Religion on drums.
The music video for ‘Hold On’ features the band in a rodeo setting and with Munky and Jonathan trying to "hold on" to their bulls in order to win a bullriding contest. The video is dedicated to late bullrider Lane Frost, who died on July 30, 1989 as a result of injuries sustained after dismounting his bull.
‘Hold On’ is taken from the band’s untitled album. It was produced by Korn’s ‘See You On The Other Side’ producer Atticus Ross (Ross is also known for his revolutionary work with NIN). In releasing an album with no title singer Jonathan Davis commented, "We didn't want to label this album. It has no boundaries; it has no limits and why not just let our fans call it whatever they wanna call it?"
Southampton pop-punk-rockers NOT ADVISED have just added an extra 8 dates to their already 20-date UK tour which begins this Sunday
The tour is in support of the release of debut single 'You're The Designers, We're The Deciders' out on Feb 25. Produced by Larry Hibbitt of Hundred Reasons and mixed by Drew Griffiths (Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Iron Maiden), it is taken from their debut album which will follow later in the year.
Their single has been causing quite a stir and making them some fans in high places. It was chosen by Radio One Rock Shows Daniel P Carter last night as his 'Unsigned Band of the Week', Alex Zane reckons "this will seriously shift some units!", it's had numerous plays on Kerrang Radio and XFM's Rockshow and the accompanying video can be seen on all good music channels!!
Having already played such festivals as Reading and Isle of Wight, they won a support slot on last years Taste of Chaos Tour when it pulled into Portsmouth, playing alongside The Used, Rise Against, Aiden, Gallows and The Blackout. They knocked everyone out in a whirlwind of flailing limbs and guitars and owned the crowd with their epic pop-punk-rock.

With its soon-to-be unleashed sophomore album, Gods of the Earth freshly laid to tape, The Sword prepares to build upon the foundation it laid with its critically acclaimed debut Age of Winters and continues to lead modern day metal’s forward charge.

Conceived in Austin, TX, The Sword took the form of a cohesive quartet in early 2004 when guitarist/singer J.D. Cronise, guitarist Kyle Shutt, bassist Bryan Richie, and drummer Trivett Wingo joined forces. The Sword’s live shows quickly became the hottest ticket in Austin, as their punishing, yet melodious compositions, mythical imagery and conscious effort to slowly immobilize audiences left music fans astonished while word about the band continued to flourish and grow. In the fall of 2005, The Sword found a home at Kemado Records, and their critically acclaimed debut Age of Winters was released in February 2006.
From the moment Gods of the Earth’s lead track “The Sundering” explodes, it is immediately apparent that The Sword has upped the ante on a sound all its own. More ambitious, more accomplished and simply bigger, Gods of the Earth’s huge, mountaintop-friendly hooks, thunderous drumming and oceanic bass lines cut through the air like a scythe taking down all in the band’s path. The ominous vocals of Cronise weave fantastical tales rife with myth and mythology. Waves of powerful riffs and low-end thunder dominate songs such as the immediate “Maiden, Mother & Crone”, “Fire Lances of the Ancient Hyperzephyrians”, “Under the Boughs” and the paralyzing “The Black River”. Gods of the Earth instantly conveys what words can only try to describe: The Sword is not to be taken lightly.
The full track listing for Gods Of The Earth is as follows:
The Sundering, How Heavy This Axe, Lords, Fire Lances of the Ancient Hyperzephyrians, To Take the Black, Maiden, Mother & Crone, Under the Boughs, The Black River and The White Sea.

They are set to play London’s Astoria on Thursday 6th March with Dutch band, Epica in support.
Paradise Lost is not a concept album in the traditional sense but a sequence of individual songs and themes based loosely on John Milton’s novel about the fall of man. Considered the band’s most aggressive album to date, guitarist and band leader Michael Romeo says of the title:
“Of course the album features the kind of songs that people have come to anticipate from us, but there’s also a fresh and innovative approach, as well as a number of musical and thematic references………The lyrics are about deceit, revenge and corruption. Some of them are practically infernal; others could be interpreted in different ways.”

Overkill Added To
Bloodstock Line Up |
 |
The Bloodstock team have announced that New York thrash veterans Overkill have been added to the bill for Bloodstock 2008.

Overkill rose to prominence during the 1980s' thrash boom alongside contemporaries such as: Testement, Exodus and the so-called "big four" - Metallica, Megadeath, Anthrax and Slayer. After releasing a self-financed EP in 1984, the band - then consisting of vocalist Bobby 'Blitz' Ellsworth, Bassist D.D. Verni, Guitarist Bobby Gustafson and Drummer Rat Skates - signed to the legendary Megaforce label, releasing their storming debut 'Feel the Fire' in 1985. By 1987's crushing anthemic 'Taking Over' the band had bagged a prestigious deal with Atlantic Records which would last a further seven years. Sid Falck replaced Rat Skates for 1988's 'Under the Influence' and '89's 'The Years of Decay' and this period saw the band enjoy immense success including exposure on MTV.
1991's 'Horrorscope' saw Gustafson replaced by two guitarists, Rob Cannevino and Merritt Gant as the band faced the challenges of the new decade. 1993's 'I Hear Black' and 'W.F.O' from '94 brought the Atlantic days to a close but as many old-school outfits went to ground or simply gave up during the difficult mid-to-late 90's, Overkill preserved, issuing less than five albums between 1996-'99. Come the new millennium, they took advantage of the nascent metal resurgence and continued their dogged work ethic with regular tours and releases including 'Bloodletting', 'Killbox 13', 'ReliXIV' and finally in 2007 'Immortalis', which saw them signwith Bodog Music and reunite with Jonny and Marsha Zazula, previously owners of Megaforce.
By staying true to their roots for over twenty years and no less than fourteen albums, Overkill have deservedly earned the most difficult prize of all -respect. They're ready to thrash the old guard and show the new kids how it's done...
The full list of bands currently confirmed for Bloodstock 2008 is as follows:

Communic, Evile, Opeth, Tyr, Eluveitie, Helloween & Primal Fear

Currently roaring through America on their first stateside headline tour, Gallows were due to support Californian punk legends Social Distortion at the House Of Blues venue on Disneyland in Anaheim, Orange County this Tuesday 22nd of January. Then, on March 3rd the band will release a limited-edition ‘Live At The 100 Club’ – CD/DVD of that ferocious performance from 6th of March in 2007, capturing the true hysteria of the night in all its glory.
Prior to that, Gallows kick off 2008 in the UK with scorching punk rock tour that is due to explode across the country this February. Support comes from snarling Canadian punk giants Fucked Up, Californian hardcore heroes Set Your Goals and Liverpool skate-thrashers SSS.

one:day:life
Release Debut Album |
 |
What makes the long list of achievements by pop-punk's rising stars, one:day:life, so impressive, is that everything has been accomplished by the three hard-working twenty-something's themselves and we mean everything. After growing up in the same small town in southeast England and attending the same school, it was east inevitable that the friends would go on to work together in music. Their initial hard work led to the release of two confident and successful EP's, which were both recorded amongst constant live dates, booked by the band themselves.
As they finished their final tour of 2006, the band set about working on their debut album "Heroes, Hoods and Headphones", which was written and produced by the band. The album comes as a milestone in their fast-paced growth. Another example of their drive and determination is the unique and hugely successful schools tours, which have been organised and managed by the band themselves. Performing to hundreds of potential new fans on a daily basis has gained them a growing nationwide fan-base. So what does the future hold for one:day:life? "We plan to play more live dates than we ever have before, including schools tours, pubs, music venues, festivals - anywhere we can. When we're not on the road, we'll be working with the street-team to promote the new album and increase our fan-base. We're already writing new material - it's a really exciting time for us."
'Heroes, Hoods and Headphones' is available nationwide through Frontierless Records on 18th February 2008.

The new AS I LAY DYING video clip for the song “The Sound Of Truth” has been posted at www.metalblade.de. “The Sound Of Truth” comes off the group's latest album “An Ocean Between Us”.
Directed by Brian Thompson, who helmed the band's futuristic clip for "Nothing Left", the video for "The Sound Of Truth" was made at Sound City Studios in Van Nuys, CA and is a continuation of the story the first video initiated. Like its predecessor, the story for this video was conceived by the band, fine-tuned by Thompson, and displays the irony and hypocrisy that takes place in a decaying futuristic society.

Cataract To
Release Cataract |
 |
2008 marks Cataract's tenth year of existence, and it will also be the year in which Cataract release their highly anticipated and self-titled fifth full-length album.

Since 1998, Cataract have been evolving from a project band into one of Switzerland’s premiere metal outfits and one of Europe’s constant parameters in the modern Thrash and Metalcore genres. The past time has brought a lot of changes for the band. A new guitar player and a new bass player were added, a whole new album was written and still they were out on Europe's stages kicking some serious ass. Cataract's new formation has added a lot of fresh blood and creativity to the sound and the best proof will be the new album scheduled for March 2008. This self-titled fifth release is by far their most progressive to date, showing a lot more variety by adding a lot of brutality and speed but also more melody and heaviness. The massive production of Tue Madsen is the cherry on top of an impressing album! Cataract will be promoting their massive new release with tons of shows and various tours all over Europe!
"Cataract" will be available in three editions. As a regular CD, as a limited edition CD with bonus-disc (for which the band recorded a whole bunch of cover songs) and as a picture disc on vinyl (limited to 500 copies)! The album will be released on March 20th 2008 via Metal Blade and the full track listing is as follows:
The Separation Of Life And Time, Blackest Hour, Snake Skin, Choke Down, Deathwish, Burn At The Stake, Tonight We Dine In Hell, Breeze Of The Kings, Doomed Steps and In Ashes

Frank Turner - New
Album & Tour Announced |
 |
Frank Turner follows the successes of the past year with a brand new album and a full UK headline tour. Since the release of his debut ‘Sleep Is For The Week’ twelve months ago, Frank has steadily continued his one-man assault on world domination and has not only sold over 10,000 copies of the record but toured the UK and USA extensively supporting Biffy Clyro, headlining the Softcore Tour with pals Josh English, Jacob Golden and Jonah Matranga and playing a storming set at Reading and Leeds Festival. He also released ‘The Real Damage’ EP and a killer DVD called ‘All About The Destination’. To top it all, almost exactly a year after the release of the album, it made the much coveted shortlist of the inaugural XFM New Music Award 2007 thanks to active voting of his ever-loyal fans.
2008 is going to be better still with new album ‘Love Ire & Song’ ready for release on March 31st. Written and recorded in a farm outside of Winchester, Hampshire with the help of producer supreme Ben Lloyd once again – it’s an album of real depth and beauty, touching on the themes of love, distance and loss. The first single to be released is ‘Photosynthesis’ out on March 24th which has already been played on Zane Lowe’s Radio 1 show by fans and new buddies Hadouken and by Mike Davies on his Punk Show. If ‘Sleep…’ was a cracking rebound shag, then this new album is a budding new relationship with an altogether classier type of girl.

Young Heart Attack
& 4ft Fingers Sign With Not On Your Radio |
 |
Young Heart Attack formed in the early years of the 21st century, and not long after signed to the British label XL Recordings. There were many early triumphs--pre-album singles released on the REX imprint, airplay on the BBC, and performances at the Reading and Leeds festivals. Their first album ("Mouthful of Love"/album of the week in NME) yielded the singles "Starlite," "Over and Over," and "Tommy Shots," the latter rising to the number two spot on the British rock charts (just behind Red Hot Chili Peppers).

Despite such promising early success, XL chose not to extend the group's contract after one album. Their XL years included opening for Motorhead, The Darkness, Jet, The MC5 and Peaches. Though the band had built a strong following in the UK and Australia, internal strife drove YHA into a malaise of inactivity tantamount to disbanding.
In the summer of 2006, former keyboardist Pauly Deathwish started meeting with lead singer Chris Hodge to write songs "for fun." In the haze of these druggy sessions, songs such as "Jump Into The Picture" and "Good Love" started to materialize. Lead singer Jennifer Stephens was brought into the writing process for the first time, penning a major portion of "Hell On Earth." Superstar producer and lead guitarist Frenchie Smith wrote a juggernaut-of-a-song in "Munki." As the record came together over a year's time, with Smith in the producer's chair, even new drummer Jayson Altman contributed co-authorship to "Drums of Revolution."
The band started gigging again with its new rhythm section (Deathwish having become the bass player). A deal has been signed with UK label Not On Your Radio. The Young Heart Attack resurgence, against strong odds, is becoming a smashing reality. A record release date for the UK of their new album "Rock and Awe" is set for spring '08. The forthcoming opus features masterful guest-drumming on two tracks courtesy of Blondie's Clem Burke, and crystal-clear mixes by Robbie Adams (U2, Smashing Pumpkins). YHA makes their return to Britain in late March/early April, followed by a whirlwind tour of Spain.
YHA has matured and found an inner voice from which is dictated slower tempos, confidence, and unabashed soaring melodies. The most fascinating aspect of the band's re-emergence might best be summed up with a Zombies lyric. As Colin Blunstone sang, "This will be our year--took a long time to come." Young Heart Attack's album "Rock and Awe" is a true specimen of a band living the DIY-dream.
The follow up to 2004's Mouthful of Love will be released in the UK on 17th March 2008 and, you can check out the title track via the label's MySpace site @ www.myspace.com/notonyourradio. The band will then head over for an extensive UK tour following a launch show at SXSW.

Joining YHA for the trek will be label-mates iNsoFar, their first big tour since the release of "Medicine for the Melancholic". Formed in late 2004. After a string of successful shows around the South of England, it wasn't long before iNsoFar started to gain a reputation for their exhilarating and dramatic live performances. Hailing from Surrey/Sussex, the band have toured the UK both independently and alongside more established acts as touring support (including tours with Mindless Self Indulgence, Trashlight Vision and AntiProduct) and have performed at the Birmingham NEC, alongside Reuben and This Is Menace.
Since the release of their debut (self funded) single "The Fall" the band have gone from strength to strength, gaining video rotation on Scuzz TV, airplay on Total Rock Radio and BBC Radio 6 and appearing in magazines such as Kerrang, Rock Sound, Big Cheese, Metal Hammer, Powerplay and Tuned. 2007 has so far been the bands most successful year to date, having signed to independent label Not On Your Radio, releasing their mini-album "Medicine For The Melancholic" to rave reviews and securing major sponsorship from Jagermeister.
