Soilent Green |
 |
Southern sludge grind-metallers Soilent Green will release their new album, "Inevitable Collapse in the Presence of Conviction", on April 21st 2008 via Metal Blade Records. The CD was helmed by Erik Rutan (Hate Eternal, ex-Morbid Angel) at Mana Recording in St. Petersburg, Florida.

The full track listing for "Inevitable Collapse in the Presence of Conviction" is as follows:
Mental Acupuncture, Blessed In The Arms Of Servitude, In The Same Breath, Antioxidant, Lovesick, Rock Paper Scissors, Superstition Aimed At One's Skull, For Lack Of Perfect Words, When All Roads Lead To Rome, All This Good Intention Wasted In The Wake Of Apathy and A Pale Horse And The Story Of The End
"It's definitely the most level-headed record we've done in a long time," comments guitarist Brian Patton, whose more-lethal-than-ever guitar skills add a new dimension to the SOILENT landscape. "All the chaos we've had in the past few years has kind of calmed down a bit."
Based loosely around the band's history of struggle and general feelings of hopelessness and dejection and punctuated by John Van Fleet's striking cover design, "Inevitable Collapse" is a 42 minute soundtrack to reality; Ben Falgoust's varying vocal tones and cutting verbalization bringing its concept to the forefront with crippling urgency.
"It's the basic idea of no hope. It's in reference to the history of SOILENT GREEN and also just life in general," Falgoust notes of the record's unofficial theme. "Everybody is always picturing things with a happy ending, but life's not always like that. Every individual out there gets to a point where they feel like they've struggled to a point and never got anything out of it. It happens every day. That's the point of this record. Sometimes, even when you put your all into something and work hard, things don't always work out in the end. That's just the way life falls sometimes."
"It's a pretty heavy name," adds Patton. "I came up with it. I've been dealing with a lot of issues in life. We've had a lot of deaths in our little circle. Glenn (Rambo, original vocalist) passed away in the hurricane, our old bass player ended up getting shot and you know, we've had a lot of issues with just family. It hasn't been all peaches and cream out in this area. So it's just a depression type theme; when you're given hope and it's taken from you. It's pretty heavy. Ben's got a lot going on in his brain so. And I must say," he adds with a laugh, "he makes it really hard for crowds to yell out titles of songs."
Touted as "one of the ten most important hard and heavy bands" by Rolling Stone magazine, SOILENT GREEN has been releasing consistently brutal and groove-laden albums since their first full-length, "Pussysoul", in 1994.

InsideOut Music Presents an evening with The Tangent, Ritual and Beardfish
At the end of spring, a heart-warming little festival is set to go on tour. Music fans will be ecstatic at the prospect of seeing three of the most interesting prog rock acts of recent years at one and the same event. The Tangent have earned themselves a faithful following with their mix of progressive music and neo-Canterbury and are now ready to present their latest release, “Not As Good As The Book” live. Fans will be eager to find out how The Tangent mastermind Andy Tillison will integrate into the programme the short novel that was released along with the band’s current CD. Ritual from Sweden are ready to tour at last to promote their highly acclaimed album, “The Hemulic Voluntary Band”. Vocalist Patrik Lundström is looking forward to presenting the new album in its entirety outside Sweden for the first time. Last but not least, Beardfish are interesting prog newcomers who will bring out their new album, “Sleeping in Traffic: Part Two”, on time for the tour.
The tour hits the UK to play London's Camden Underworld on May 20th.
Fighting With Wire will release their debut album, Man Vs Monster on 3rd March. The album is said to be forty-five minutes of razor sharp riffs colliding full force with huge melodies and is recommended for fans of Jimmy Eat World, Foo Fighters, Hüsker Dü and Biffy Clyro.
An idealistic bunch, they’ve since done what rock bands are meant to do: they wrote a bunch of songs, and took to the road. The last three years has seen them play shows with the likes of Reuben, Biffy Clyro, Million Dead, Seafood, YCNI:M and Future Of The Left, racking up hundreds of miles and honing their live show into a ferocious explosion in the process.
After putting out a number of limited edition DIY singles, they took a breather at the end of 2006 and finally started work on their long-awaited debut album. Recorded in Northern Ireland and finally completed in mid-2007, Man Vs Monster is a dynamic beast of a record – raging out of your speakers one moment yet gentle and intricate the next, and all without losing focus of what’s important: the song. What’s next for Fighting With Wire? More touring and more songs, we would expect.

The full track listing for Man Vs Monster is as follows:
Cut The Transmission, Everyone Needs A Nemesis, All For Nothing, Long Distance, Strength In Numbers, Into The Ground, Sugar, Make A Fist, My Armoury, The Quiet and This Body Is In Danger.
Once the album is released the band have lined up a series of UK shows to promote the CD.

Dokken |
 |
Frontiers Records is pleased to announce all details surrounding the release of the forthcoming Dokken album "Lightning Strikes Again" to be released in Europe on April 11th 2008.

Dokken is one of the bands that define the Hard Rock and Metal genres in the 80's. On the heels of such masterpiece records as "Tooth And Nail", "Under Lock & Key" and "Back For The Attack" the band has created an unique style made of heavy riffing and memorable vocal lines and melodies. After the band's split in 1989, Dokken reunited with the release of "Dysfunctional" in 1995 and since then have been a stable presence in the Hard Rock and Metal world.
"Lightning Strikes Again" is Dokken's 10th studio album and, from the title already, which echoes one of the band's classic song off "Under Lock & Key", marks a true and definite return to the classic sound of the heydays. "We have been more focused on this project than any we've done in years" says singer Don Dokken. "Yes, it has taken a long time but in the end the fans will have a Dokken CD that is as good as any we did in the 80's. Our goal is to deliver a CD that will shake up the rock world... and so far everyone says it is the best Dokken CDs since '86. It's time that a band from our era did something special and prove that our brand of music is still valid. And I think we're close, if it does not have success it won't be because we didn't give it a thousand percent effort".

From the first time since the reunion, Dokken is going back to the roots of its sound and exposes with the power and the might of the new Millennium the hot riffs and incredible melodies that built the band's success.
Dokken's lineup is now Don Dokken (vocals), Mick Brown (drums), Jon Levin (guitar) and Barry Sparks (bass). The album was mixed by Wyn Davis (Dio, Great White).
The final track listing for Lightening Strikes Again is as follows:
Standing On The Outside; Give Me A Reason; Heart To Stone; Disease; How I Miss Your Smile; Oasis; Point Of No Return; I Remember; Judgment Day; It Means; Release Me; This Fire
"Lightning Strikes Again" rocks hard, but still caresses with velvet melodies, this is exactly what the fans have been asking for more than a decade. Don't miss it when it is time of release in Europe on April 11th 2008.

Dominici |
 |
This April sees the release of part 3 of Charlie Dominici’s Trilogy, the culmination of a series which began in 2005 with the purely acoustic Part 1 and continued impressively in 2006 with the electric (and electrifying) Part 2. “This is not a continuation of part 2,” Dominici points out unequivocally. “It is the final part of three……Part 3 is the grand finale, both lyrically and musically.”

It is a truly furious finale, in which Dominici is supported by his technically outstanding band, which continues to consist of Brian Maillard (guitar), Yan Maillard (drums), Americo Rigoldi (keyboards) and Riccardo Atzeni (bass).
Following the impressive chapters of the two predecessor albums, Dominici decided to try a new approach for the final part of his socially critical story. “Part 3 was done differently than both other parts. I waited to write a single word until I began writing the music with the band. The lyrics for Part 3 were not written, they were ‘grown’ like a garden. I separated eight blank word files and wrote the synopsis for each song at the top. I then went to each file as we were completing the music and completed the lyrics. I did it this way so the story had the best chance of being fully completed in the limited amount of time a CD can provide.”
This approach has produced some impressive results and is certainly not what could be called superficial background music! However, Dominici’s prognosis of his future recordings makes clear just how much energy and concentration this extremely demanding project has cost him. “Never again! I will never do another concept album as long as I live. This was the most difficult music and concept to complete although it was very rewarding and satisfying as an artist. Maybe I’m just a wimp, but I kind of feel the same way I feel about the recent loss of my beloved cat, ‘Tigger’. I loved the experience of knowing her, but I don’t think I would want to subject myself to this kind of pain again. No more cats, no more concept albums!”
03 A Trilogy - Part 3 is released via Inside Out Music on April 21st.

Artist Service
Announce March Releases |
 |
Artist Service have announced details of five new albums, all scheduled to be released on March 28th 2008. The albums are as follows:
Shannon - “Angel In Disguise”

Formed at the beginning of 1998 by guitarist Patrice Louis and Thierry Dagnicourt (keyboards) Shannon finally found their final line-up when vocalist Olivier Del Vall, bassist Nicolas Fixy and drummer Benjamin Bergerolle joined the band in 2003. Shannon are celebrating the kind of melodic hard rock that sticks to its skin. Their debut, and eponymous, album released in November 2003 has been unanimously praised by the international press as one of the most impressive and brilliant records of the year in the Classic 80's US melodic rock style.
Shortly after the release of their debut album the band hit the road and shared stages with renowned artists such as Axxis, Pink Cream 69 and Jeff Scott Soto as well as opening for Gotthard at the Raismes Fest Festival. With catchy hooklines, infectious choruses and a groovy and powerful rhythm section, Shannon are the perfect alchemy between classic US melodic hard rock and the typical European influenced NWOBHM sound, delivering a music as powerful as melodic.
Shannon are now back with their next effort “Angel In Disguise”, even more powerful, more melodic and catchy than their debut, delivering all the goods true melodic hard rock fans were waiting for so long!
Circular Logik - “One”

Highly respected AOR vocalist and multi instrumentalist Phil Vincent is back again with his new band Circular Logik, ready to show everybody how melodic hard rock should sound like in 2008! Starting his career as a songwriter for the music industry the feedback for his material among the AOR/ rock community was so overwhelming that he decided to release a subsequent stream of well received solo albums. Vincent also started working as guest/session musician and delivered outstanding performances for example with former Alibi man Michael Riesenback.
For his 2002 solo album “Slow Burn” he recruited What Matters guitarist Billy Roux, Airborne, Night Ranger & Dead Heart Beating bassist David Zychek and drummer Tane DeAngelis. In 2004 his creativity initiated the founding of Tragik, his first band project featuring guitarist/bassist Damien D´Ercole and drummer Dirk Phillips. Unstoppable in his creativity and song writing skills Phil is now back with his new band Circular Logik, a melting pot of musical talents and great melodic rock ideas. Again featuring Tane DeAngelis on drums and Billy Roux on lead guitars plus William Arnold (bass), Steve Albanese (guitars) and Paul Colombo (lead guitars) Circular Logik's forthcoming debut “One” is a must have for all fans of melodic hard rock music, proving that classic melodic rock music can sound fresh, powerful and up-to-date. “One” is packed with 13 melodic hard rock songs of sonic brilliance sure to make this CD an instant classic!!!
StoneLake - “Uncharted Souls”

After having met at a concert in 1984, Ravage guitarist Jan Akesson and Whitelight vocalist Peter Grundstrom decided to join forces and hence Jan joined Whitelight, a Swedish melodic hard rock band. In 1987 Jan decided to leave Whitelight and in the following years he formed several bands such as Why Not, Perfect Stranger & Doctor Blue. In 1994 Jan stepped down from the stages but kept on writing and recording songs at his own studio. Now, fifteen years after Jan and Peter first met Jan called Peter because he thought it would be the right time for a "reunion". That's how Stonelake was born, a melodic metal band delivering a very unique style, characterized by heavy guitar riffing, mighty vocals and sophisticated melodies. Boosted by a heavy pounding rhythm section Stonelake are now determined to show what melodic metal should sound like in 2008.
Whitecross - “Nineteen Eighty Seven”

"Nineteen Eighty Seven" is a completely new recording of the original self-titled Whitecross album, containing all of the original songs except for Your Mine, but comes complete with two additional bonus tracks, Love On The Line from the 6.98 Love on the Line EP, and a new Guitar Solo/Song by Rex Carroll called Re:Animate. This original version also contains a four hidden out take-tracks at the end of the disc. That makes a total of six bonus tracks!
In 1987 Whitecross took the Christian Metal Scene by storm, delivering what would soon become one of the most talked about and highly collectible recordings in the Christian metal market. Scott Wenzel and Rex Carroll created a duo like few before them, breaking ground in the Christian metal scene that opened up the door for a flurry of bands. Often compared to the secular mainstream band Ratt, Scott's vocals were new and fresh in Christian music, and Rex's blazing guitar work put Whitecross on the map for good. Whitecross continued through out the 80's and 90's making music and releasing some 12 recordings with drummer Mike Feighan, as well as many other musicians. Now Rex, Scott and Mike would like to take you back to a time when Metal still reigned. Whitecross' "Nineteen Eighty Seven" is a completely new recording of the original Self-Titled Whitecross, but bigger, louder and better than ever.
X-Sinner - “Fire It Up”

X-SINNER introduced themselves to the world in 1989 with their critically acclaimed Brian Johnson-era AC/DC influenced debut, Get It. The band followed that record up two years later with the Bon Scott-era AC/DC influenced sophomore effort, "Peace Treaty". Retroactive Records initially approached the band about re-releasing the long out of print "Peace Treaty" disc to the modern world, but was met with the kind of legal red tape that usually brings a quick halt to such matters. Undaunted, the band and the label charted a new course and set plans for re-recording the entire album. The band was never fully pleased with the original version of the album and felt this was a great chance to give it the kind of hard rock treatment they had wanted it to have in the first place.
The ballad, "Hold On" was replaced with a newly written song entitled, "Fire It Up." Feeling the song encapsulated so much of what the band had always felt they were about, they decided to rename the album after it. Updated artwork was required as well to give the album the look to fit the sound. X-Sinner have now officially reunited and are playing concerts again. They're currently recording a brand new studio album (tentitively titled, World Covered In Blood). Fans wondering what to expect from the new album should look no further than the title track of "Fire It Up".

ProgPower UK III
Cancelled |
 |
In a press release from the organisers of Prog Power UK III, which was scheduled to be held in Bristol over the weekend of 28th/29th March, it has emerged that this year's edition of the festival has been cancelled. The full press release reads as follows:
This is the hardest decision we have ever had to make, but it is with great regret that we have had to cancel ProgPower UK III. We have made no secret of the financial difficulties that have dogged our first two years, which is why we made a significant number of changes for year three. However, ticket sales have been extremely poor and, as a result, there is no way we can stage the festival without losing a substantial amount of money – again.
This decision has not been taken lightly and we are fully aware of both the disappointment and inconvenience it will cause. However, we simply cannot afford to keep pumping money into ProgPower UK and we can assure you that we are as disappointed about this as you no doubt are. As a result of this, ProgPower UK LLP will cease trading with immediate effect.
Ticket holders who purchased tickets via cheque or Paypal through the ProgPowerUK website will be refunded by the method through which the tickets were purchased. This will be done within twenty-eight days. If you purchased tickets at Bristol Ticket Shop, please contact them directly for a refund. Please direct any enquiries to enquiries@progpoweruk.com All enquiries will be dealt with, but please be patient.
We would like to sincerely thank everyone who has supported us over the past three years, and also thank Rene Janssen and his team giving us the opportunity to make ProgPower UK a reality.

'Rollercoaster' is accompanied by a phenomenal video in which the band, quite literally, get to fly. How so? By plummeting over and over again in a Boeing 727, 20,000 feet above the earth's surface, allowing them to become weightless! Check it out on all good music channels now!!
DORP are very politically motivated, so politics and society feature largely in their music, although their tongue in cheek attitude keeps it from being soap box material. With tracks on the album commenting on such issues as America's assumed role as sheriff of the world ('Invisible Man') and the ever-increasing celebrity exposure of talentless Hollywood offspring of talented Hollywood parents ('Giggly Moods')...if these guys feel something needs to be said, they'll say it!

Lauren Harris
Signs Deal With Demolition |
 |
Lauren Harris, daughter of Iron Maiden bassist Steve Harris, has inked a deal with UK based label Demolition Records. Her debut CD, produced by Tommy McWilliams is scheduled to be released later this year.

Lauren Harris launched her career in 2005 after being talent spotted by legendary British producer-writer-artist Russ Ballard who had no idea she was the daughter of Steve Harris. Following the successful studio session with Russ, Lauren assembled a live band and proceeded to play a series of shows around Florida in the USA and in her native UK.
As word began to circulate around the Internet, Lauren received her first big break in May 2006 when she supported rock legend Alice Cooper in Sheffield. Her web site was bombarded with new visitors and encouraged by this initial success, the summer of 2006 saw Lauren and her band spread their wings further, playing the prestigious outdoor festival circuit throughout Europe, including high-profile appearances at the German Rock Am Ring and Rock Im Park shows as well as the UK and Dublin Download festivals.
Following these concerts, with word spreading and crowds growing, Lauren could have taken the opportunity to take a break — instead she took on her biggest challenge yet — playing stadiums across the world supporting IRON MAIDEN including such exotic places as the Budokan in Tokyo, Desert Rock Festival in Dubai and Bangalore, India, where Lauren made history as the first woman to front a rock band in concert! She is currently in Australia supporting Iron Maiden on their first tour of the continent in 16 years
Things couldn’t have been moving faster for Lauren, following a tour with The Answer in early 2007, she was then approached to be main support for Within Temptation, which was a huge success, attracting rave reviews. For the summer, once again, Lauren played some of the largest outdoor festivals in Europe alongside rock heavyweights such as Heaven And Hell, Korn and Stone Sour, including a dazzling set at the UK Download festival.

Russ Ballard: Formerly lead singer with Argent, who hit the charts in the early 70’s with ‘Hold Your Head Up’ and ‘God Gave Rock ‘N’ Roll To You’, Russ also made his name as a successful writer (‘Since You’ve Been Gone’ for Rainbow and ‘Liar’ for Three Dog Night’) Russ will be performing live for the first time in over thirty years, joining the Zombies on stage for a unique performance for ChildLine Rocks.

Thunder’s Luke Morley says: “The billing for ChildLine’s first rock concert is nothing short of rock solid. Together we’re going to make it a night to remember for rock music fans everywhere. “When you buy your ticket you’ll know you’re helping to raising money so that children have someone to listen to them, and a safe place to go for help and advice”.

Our Last Night is approaching the follow-up to their 2005 EP, Building Cities from Scratch, with a refined sense of direction and skill. The group’s new material perfectly blends enthralling cathartic melodies and tight angular riffs with growls and brooding breakdowns, for one of Epitaph’s most ferocious new releases.
“Fans can expect a more developed sound compared to the demos we have online and anything we have released in the past,” says guitarist and melodist Matt Wentworth. “We focused a lot more on the song writing aspect rather than throwing a bunch of riffs together and calling it a song. The songs that will be on the new album are definitely the most exciting and energetic songs we have ever written.”
