Tramp's White Lion |
|
|
Frontiers Records
is pleased to announce the worldwide release of
TRAMP’S WHITE LION
double live album “Rocking
The USA” on
October 24th 2005.
Tramp’s White Lion is a
classic rock band, set to represent the music and style of
White Lion in the
new millennium. Mike Tramp
singer, songwriter and founder of
White Lion has put
up a new line up made of fresh talent from every corner of
the world, but again with the sole intention of staying true
to the sound of White Lion
and the great songs of the band.

The
band’s first release is the double live album “Rocking
in the USA”, which was recorded on the band’s two
months tour of the USA in February and March 2005. Legendary

The
band now consists of: Mike
Tramp,
Jamie Law
on guitar,
Claus Longwood
on bass, drummer
Troy P. Farrel and
Henning Wanner
on keyboards.
Tramp’s White Lion
mission is simple: bring the classic sound of White Lion to
all the people across the world that still lives for that
music. Tramp says: “We are
not interested in fixing what isn’t broke. We’re here to
play White Lion songs the way they were written”.
The
track listing for 'Rocking The USA is as follows:

Thunder; Hungry; Lonely Nights; Love Don’t Come Easy; Broken
Heart; Fight To Survive; Cry For Freedom; You’re All I Need;

Iron
Maiden In Ozzfest Furore |
|
|
As
many people may have read elsewhere Iron Maiden's set at
their final appearance on this Ozzfest touring carnival was
shrouded in controversy with the band been pelted by eggs
and spit, allegedly from people within the Ozzy Osbourne
camp. Maiden also had the PA cut out numerous times during
their show and, finally, to round matters off Osbourne's
wife & manager Sharon then took to the stage at the end of
Maiden performance to make derogatory comments about the
bands singer Bruce Dickinson.
In
response to the shenanigans Maiden's manager, Rod Smallwood,
today released the following press statement with regard to
the whole situation:
In 30
years in this business and after attending hundreds of gigs,
l have never seen anything anywhere near as disgusting and
unprofessional as what went on that night. I was standing on
our sound desk out front as usual but ran to the stage as
soon as the hail of missiles began and from then on watched
from the front of the stage right next to Bruce's walkway.
The scale, viciousness and concentration of the throwing
made it obvious that this was a premeditated and
co-ordinated attack. Assaulting musicians while performing
by throwing bottle tops, lighters and eggs at them from just
a few yards away is vile, dangerous, criminal and cowardly.
It is incredible that Ozzfest security apparently did
nothing about it — aren't they there to protect the bands
too? Especially when the band is concentrating on a
performance in front of 45,000 people and the missiles are
coming out of the glare of the spotlights. And to spit at a
band on stage is unforgivable.
"IRON MAIDEN, like all the bands on Ozzfest, had to sign
quite onerous legal documents part of which was promising
not to throw anything into the audience, even wristbands!!!
Ironic isn't it.
"It is well documented on the web who was responsible for
planning and participating in this attack and for musicians
to join in this assault on other musicians is a shocking
disgrace akin to treachery. You should all be thoroughly
ashamed of yourselves.
"We know who authorised the making of the 'Ozzy - Ozzy'
chant tape the day before and how it was played secretly
through the PA at the very beginning and end of our set.
"We also know who continually turned off the power
interrupting our set at crucial moments. It is a good thing
that the power was turned back on before there was a riot as
you could sense on stage a lot of the huge audience were
getting totally pissed off at this continual onslaught on
the band.
"The great majority of the Ozzfest crew throughout the tour
were terrific and we thank them. Those who participated or
stood idly by and watched as this all went down should also
be ashamed of themselves and l would certainly hope they
never come near a tour with which we are involved.
"There is little point in my commenting on the chap with the
flag or their trying to hold up Eddie or Sharon's speech as
the audience made their feelings very clear on each
occasion.
"And in the end what was all this about?? If l had any sort
of problem or misunderstanding with a band working on a tour
we were involved in l would go and talk to them or their
manager - not wait until the end of a tour and assault and
ambush them. Or was that really it?
"I find it staggering that this ambush would take place in
front of any audience, let alone in San Bernardino, the
biggest audience of the tour. Didn't that audience merit any
consideration? They pay an awful lot to be there in terms of
prices for tickets, parking, food, beer etc. Surely if they
spend this sort of money they deserve to watch the bands
they paid to see be able to put in a full unhindered
performance. Free of danger and intimidation. If I had paid
I would ask for my money back!
"And this audience really were outstanding, giving the band
incredible support and many voting with their feet in
disgust after the set and the speech, which to many was the
final insult.
"I have to say l was immensely proud of MAIDEN who stood up
to it all and showed great courage and just got better and
better through the adversity. Their heads never dropped,
instead they went on the offensive. It was a truly memorable
moment when Bruce went to the very front of the stage during
'Trooper' — something which he never normally does as he is
usually on the ramps — waving the flag whilst avoiding the
hail of missiles and yelling 'This is a fucking British
flag, and these colours don't fucking run!' The
imperturbable attitude and ability of the band shone through
and in the end made this a truly remarkable rock and roll
event, even if for all the wrong reasons.
"We will have no more to say on this matter except that l do
think the band deserve an apology from a number of people,
and you know who you are."
Maiden
return to the UK this weekend to headline the Leeds &
Reading Festivals before rounding out their Early Days tour
at London's Hammersmith Apollo on Friday 2nd September in
aid of Clive Burr and multiple sclerosis. HardRockHouse will
have a gig review of this show online next weekend. |

Asia
Change Drummers |
|
|
Hot off their
successful world tour in support of their fan and critically
acclaimed album Silent Nation, Asia have parted amicably
with drummer Chris Slade (The Firm, AC/DC). The band
immediately went down their short list of candidates to fill
Slade's formidable shoes and have replaced Slade with Jay
Schellen. "Jay was always our first choice as a replacement
drummer for Asia", John Payne revealed. "He played on the
demos for some of the Silent Nation tracks and we just
clicked right from the start!"
Jay is a very well respected drummer in both the studio and
on the stage. He has graced the ranks of such notable acts
as Badfinger & Hurricane. Most recently, Jay participated in
the Chris Squire/Billy Sherwood project, Conspiracy. Asia
founding member Geoff Downes added "We are very happy to
welcome Jay to the Asia family and look forward to creating
some of our best work to date with him behind the drum kit.
We would just like to add that we wish Chris all the best
and he will always remain a friend of Asia."
Asia also enter the studio to begin recording their follow
up to 2004's highly successful album, Silent Nation. The
album, tentatively called "Architect of Time", will be
released sometime in the first half of 2006 on InsideOut

Dominion Festival - Skyclad To Headline |
|
|
Pagan Folk
metallers Skyclad are to headline their only UK gig this year at
the first Dominion Festival, to be held on the 2nd October 2005.
The festival, organised by PMUK promotions, boasts a line up of
11 bands in 12 hours, and is being held at the Piper, in Hull,
starting at 12pm.
The inaugural Dominion Autumn Assault metal festival is the most
ambitious undertaking so far for a team of heavy metal fans who
went into the promotions business just under a year ago. In the
past few months, Power Metal UK (www.power-metal.co.uk)
has gone from a small site for metal fans, to having over 4 ½
million hits in the last year. “The development into gig
promotions seemed the next logical step, after the success of
the web site, and the idea for Dominion grew from there.” said
Glyn Beasley, one of the management team and founders of PMUK.
The 400 capacity Piper in Newland Avenue, Hull is the venue for
this prestigious event, and the team have been lucky enough to
secure not only the first UK gig so far this year for Skyclad,
but also the UK debut show for Germanic metal heads Human
Fortress. The final line up is as follows:-
SKYCLAD
- England's finest Pagan Folk Thrashers playing an exclusive
show in Hull
HUMAN
FORTRESS - Melodic Medieval Power Metal from Germany, making
their UK debut!
INTENSE
- Dark Edged Power Metal with a melodic twist!
INFOBIA
- Hull's greatest ever Metal Band, sounding like the bastard
offspring of Anthrax & Queensryche
HUMANITY - British Prog Sensations, young, original and awe
inspiring!
PAIN
CONTROL - Brutal Thrash Metal for fans of Slayer & Machine
Head!
WARCHILD - Sensational Maidenesque Metal from South Italy,
these guys are not to be missed!
DELIVERANCE - Thrash Metal from Italy, not unlike 80s
Metallica!
CONQUEST OF STEEL - Yorkshire's finest metal warriors a must
for fans of Judas Priest and Manowar
EVILE
- Ultra fast Speed/Thrash hailing from Huddersfield!
PITIFUL
REIGN - The finest up and coming metal band in East
Yorkshire!
The festival is the culmination of a whole weekend of PMUK
events, with a pre show party on the 1st October at the Haworth
Arms, Hull, and two warm-up shows with Warchild, Infobia and
Pitiful Reign, one to be held on Thursday 29th September At the
Lincoln Imp, Scunthorpe, and the other, on Friday 30th
September, at the Victoria Tavern, Withernsea. Entry to these
shows will be £3 on the door.
Warchild, the Italian based
band who are playing both the Dominion festival and this year's
Bloodtsock have made the following comments about their upcoming
UK appearances:
"Since the Venice Rock Festival the Italian metal band Warchild have
been in the studio, rehearsal, rehearsal, REHEARSAL!!! There's
Bloodstock and the Warm-up coming up in September and The
Dominion and the Warm-ups in October, the band want to be at
their absolute best for the British Metalhead audience.
We
know the Brits won't take any shit and we're not going to
disappoint. If that wasn't enough to keep us busy, we've got 12
new tracks to lay down, which will form the backbone to our new
album. It hasn't got a title yet and we don't expect it to be
completed before December. All are crossing fingers and praying
that some charitable record company will sign us to make all the
hard work worthwhile, although thrilling an audience does that
as well".

The Cult's Billy
Duffy in talks to get ‘Electric’ with Sin-Jin Smyth |
|
|
Billy
Duffy, of the high-octane band, The Cult is in talks to lay down
some heavy guitar work on the soundtrack of SIN-JIN SMYTH!
(www.sin-jinsmyth.com) The film, which follows two Federal
Marshals assigned to a midnight prisoner transfer (over
Halloween weekend) of a mysterious man with no past, has a heavy
action element in it, as if the characters were ‘rough and
tumble gunfighters out of the Wild West!’ said Director (Ethan)
Dettenmaier, ‘And for that, we want a serious edge!’
Midnight
Syndicate, who is hard at work designing the orchestral track
for the film, wanted to revolutionize their sound---and The
Director wants to keep the music mean! “Syndicate is inventive,”
Ethan continued, “And they made it clear that they wanted to
expand upon the sound that they’ve become known for and that led
to the idea of bringing in a guitar player. Once Edward
(Douglass of Syndicate) and I discussed it, we agreed we should
go out and get one of the best!”
Enter
Billy Duffy…One of the most respected men in music!!!
Although a
contract is still in the process of being worked out, the idea
took a serious step forward as the film’s Producers met with
Duffy and members of the Sanctuary Records Group at their
offices in Los Angeles in order to ‘make it work!’
Duffy will
also take on the role of Music Supervisor, working from the
library of Sanctuary Records which includes iron Maiden,
Motorhead, Robert Plant, Billy Idol, Fleetwood Mac and Motley
Crue amongst others, and yes Duffy will also gear up to take on
a wicked role in the film ‘which will give him an opportunity to
get locked and loaded, weapons and all!’ Talk about a triple
threat!

Vaughn Added To Firefest 2 Line Up |
|
|
It’s with great
pleasure that FIREFEST announce the addition
of VAUGHN to the bill for Saturday November 26th.
Vaughn are no strangers to UK stages having
completed a very successful co headlining tour with
Firehouse in March 2004. Danny was keen to play and
Firefest were keen to have him so it was really that
easy. Danny’s band, bassist Steve Mc Kenna (Ten),
drums Greg Morgan (Dare/Ten), guitarist Pat Heath
(Passion Street/Brave new World) Tony Marshall
(Contagious) is the same line up that toured in 2004
and drew so many compliments from fans and critics
alike. In keeping with Danny’s idea of keeping it
different , Vaughn will be plundering Danny’s back
catalogue for an all encompassing show consisting of
classics from Waysted, Blues for Days, and even some
numbers from Gary Hughes ‘Once and Future King’ to
which he contributed vocals on some tracks. This of
course in addition to the many classic Tyketto and
Vaughn tracks makes this a set list to die for. As
usual you are requested to bring your best singing
voices...

Teer In Pre-Production For New CD |
|
|
Teer are
currently in full pre-production mode for the
recording of their new album. The band have decided
that production duties for the album will be handled
by Jim Morris, who has previously worked with the
likes of . Iced Earth, Crimson Glory, Saigon Kick,
Warrant and the massively successful "Demons and
Wizards". Guitarist Nathan Boone commented that "We
felt that it was time for us to make the recording
we have always wanted to make. There will be no more
disasters like 'Bullets and Beer'. Todd Plant's
vocals are going to be nothing less than
devastating. Anyone who loves "Angel Fire" era
Millenium and the heavier shades of Teer( Pride,
Devil In Your Eyes) has something to look forward
to". Teer have held off any tour plans until this CD
is complete.
