James
Christian is The Man Frontiers Records is pleased to announce all details for the release of the new James Christian solo album entitled "Meet The Man". James Christian is best known as singer and songwriter for House of Lords. With them, he sung on four studio albums including the most recent "The Power & The Myth". He has also built during the years a fine reputation as a songwriter and producer in his own right. His first solo album entitled "Rude Awakening" was originally released in 1994 (later reissued on Frontiers Records with 6 bonus tracks) and included some of his best collaborations with such writers as Mark Baker (Signal), Bruce Gowdy (Unruly Child), Bob Marlette, Mike Slamer (Streets) and Steve DeMarchi & Freddy Curci from Alias. This album is still nowadays regarded as a delight for any lover of first class AOR. After the successful reunion album with House of Lords, Christian wanted to make a come-back also as a solo artist in a more traditional melodic rock vein. To do so he chose the best possible set of songs from his repertoire that could make up an amazing new album. The result can be heard on "Meet The Man": a classy melodic rock CD that includes song writing contributions from his House of Lords band mates Chuck Wright and Lanny Cordola ("After The Love Has Gone"; "Hold Back The Night"); the songwriter of one of House Of Lords' biggest hits "Love Don't Lie", Stan Bush (who offered "Strong Enough" to the album) and, of course, songs from the late Judithe Randall (Mark Free, Khymera, FM, Starship etc.), James Christian's artistic mentor. The final track listing will include the following songs: After The Love Is Gone; Know You In The Dark; Surrender Your Love; Meet The Man; End Of Time; Love Looked Into My Life; Leave Well Enough Alone; Strong Enough; You Should Be Blue (All I Could Feel Was Blue); Circle of Tears; Hold Back The Night The release date has been set for October 18th 2004 on Frontiers Records, while the Japanese release will be handled via Nippon Crown.

The Calling Fresh from a series of dates in July, The Calling return to the UK for another bout of live shows in November to promote their new album 'Two'. The band have the following shows so far confirmed: 15th October -
Manchester Apollo The bands latest single 'Things Will Go My Way' has entered the UK Rock Charts this week at No. 3 and also the Top 40 singles chart at No.34. Mike Tramp Ex-White Lion singer Mike Tramp has, according to his website at www.miketramp.com, scheduled a trio of UK live shows in October. The dates so far announced are:
October 29th -
London Camden Underworld Sum 41 Sum 41 will release their new album, which they have named 'Chuck' through island records on October 11th. The CD, the third release from the band, was produced by Greig Nori and mixed by Andy Wallace and Tom Lord-Alge.
The name 'Chuck'
comes from the band's trip to the Democratic Republic of Congo
in May to shoot a documentary (with the non-profit group War
Child Canada) about the impact of the longstanding civil war on
the nation. Although the band arrived during a time of
cease-fire, while there they encountered bombs and gunfire. The
violence continued, and the band hid in a hotel bathroom for
safety. A U.N. representative named Chuck Pelletier made an
evacuation plan. He herded the band into the lobby, then ran
with them through gunfire to an armoured tank and eventually to
safety. And that is the genesis of the title 'CHUCK.' A new review is up for the George Lynch album Furious George which can be viewed here. Also just posted are the UK Rock Charts for W/C 22nd August which can be seen by clicking on this link |

Bonrud A great new interview has just been posted with Paul Bonrud, main man with Seattle based band Bonrud, who release their self titled debut album on September 20th through Frontiers records. Details of the album are shown below and you can check out the interview by clicking here
You can check out more information, as well as listening to song samples from the album at Bonrud's official website at www.bonrud.com. Carbon 13: A New British Rock Label Carbon 13 is an exciting new label formed out of the frustration of witnessing too many "studio bands" release sub-standard product which sounds like it has been recorded by individuals rather than by a live, breathing band . The label is headed up by musicians Graham Woodcock (The Quest) and Andy Bramhall with significant input from Producer and Engineering guru Pete Coleman. These names (especially Pete Coleman) will be familiar due to the exhaustive list of credits coming out of our leading edge studio, Mastertone Sound.
Carbon 13 believe in quality ROCK music that can only be really appreciated when coming from the crafted hard work that only a real band can generate. We aren't limited to any specific sub-genres but like to think that there are plenty of bands making quality music that need to be given a chance to let the wider public appreciate their hard work and craftsmanship.
All signings to Carbon 13 will be given the opportunity to record and / or mix their work in our amazing, vibed studio. There will be no "clock watching" or corner cutting. We want every album to be the product of a relaxed band giving their best performance .... that's when something special happens in our opinion. Pete Coleman will be on hand to deliver the goods and give every project the benefit of his experience. In fact, experience doesn't seem to be an adequate word to describe Pete's pedigree. Anyone who has recorded Angus Young of AC/DC doesn't get that gig by being just ordinary.
Huge drums and guitars form the backbone of any powerful ROCK sound. We have the studio and the ability to deliver world-beating quality recordings that are the perfect platform for some killer vocals. Blend all this with great melodies and song arrangements and the final results will speak for themselves . . . quality with a capital Q.
Carbon 13 are currently looking for artists to join our exciting new roster. Why don’t you check us out? www.carbon13.co.uk |

why now. why are we reuniting at this particular point in time?
Quite simply, it was not possible to do so until now. Kick Axe
was forced to disband in the late 1980's due to financial and
legal reasons. We all remained close, but the members went off
in different directions. Then in early 2002, we all found
ourselves back in Vancouver out for dinner together. We talked
about reuniting and agreed it was time to deal with some
unfinished business.

ORPHAN PROJECT
=============== Now And Then is extremely proud to be able to announce the signing of the most exciting new progressive rock band in recent years.....Orphan Project. The band's beginnings stretch back to November of 2001 when singer/lyricist Shane Lankford approached John Wenger (guitars, keyboards and music) with an idea to write a concept album about physical and spiritual adoption. After a few months of waiting, John said yes and the process began to create a soundscape that could handle the lyrical depth of what Shane wanted to, and in alot of ways, needed to get out. Musically the major influences are Kansas, Spock`s Beard, Yes, Peter Gabriel, Dream Theater, Whiteheart and quality music in general.
Shane asked good
friends, guitarist Chris Maggitti, drummer Nathan Grant,
violinist Cindy King, and bassist Jason Chaillou to play in
the studio on the cd and John gathered bassist Colin
McGough, cellist Ben Hardesty. Together with the incredible
leadership of John Grant and Tony Correlli they recorded
"Orphan Found" during April- June '03.
A child of
adoptive parents, Shane found his way into his first family
in July of 1971. Growing up in a family as an adoptee left
Shane with the burning question "In whom do I find my
identity?" Spurred on by his love of music, Shane explored
these questions while performing with several bands
including About A Day. With his characteristic exuberance
and "everyman" qualities, Shane contributed thought
provoking, deep lyrics that were accessible to all
audiences.
In his latest
project, Shane explores the topic of adoption from his very
personal experience. Elements of longing for acceptance,
desire to establish an identity, coupled with a real sense
of peace that comes only from above, pervade the new lyrical
verse entitled "Orphan Found". The depth of feeling and the
joy of this story carry you from beginning to end of this
amazing piece. He aims to make you laugh, break your heart,
and let you take a glimpse of the pure joy that he has found
in his search for his true Father.
As soon as the
deal with Now And Then was inked, Orphan Project set about
extensively re-recording and completely remixing the album,
with the results taking it to an even higher level than was
already apparent.
Media reaction
has been universally positive, with Nick Shilton of Classic
Rock magazine describing it as "Probably the most exciting
debut album from a US band since Spock`s Beard`s "The Light"
back in 1995. Yes, it's that good. Imagine a mix of prime
Kansas, latter day Asia and Dream Theater at their most
commercial."
The album will
be released in September and there are already plans afoot
to bring the band over to Europe for some showcase events.
MILLENIUM
========== The bands long awaited "Jericho" CD is released now in parts of Europe. The reviews in the metal press have been very encouraging so far.
Fireworks
Magazine - "The hooks aren’t always that obvious, especially
on the less commercial tracks like ‘Heresy’ and ‘Morning
Star’, but they’re like looking at magic eye pictures, once
you’ve seen it then you can’t not see it. There are blazing
guitar parts everywhere, weaving in and out of each other
with some bizarre runs and unconventional scales, and the
soaring vocals of Todd Plant are refreshingly familiar.
The attractions of the gloriously catchy and mid-paced ‘My War’ and ‘Wheel Of Fortune’ are a little more obvious, while ‘Above This World’ and ‘Let There Be Light’ are high energy work-outs with at least one foot rooted in traditional hard rock. However, the monumental ‘Burning Again’ is the undoubted highlight, a complete atmospheric tour-de-force on which Todd Plant is simply awesome, it’s part Triumph’s ‘Just A Game’ and part Queensryche’s ‘Roads To Madness’.

Well its the
beginning of a new month, and it promises to be quite a month in
terms of new releases. On August 30th we have new albums hitting
the shops from Danny Vaughn with the 'From The Inside'
project, Magnum with Brand New Morning and Dio
with 'Master Of The Moon'. Add to this releases by Adam Bomb,
Papa Roach and Saliva to name but a few and August will be a
heavy month on the wallet on the CD buying front. On the upside
there aren't too many tours going on, as August is traditionally
the month of the festival, however Dio will be playing the UK
this month so look out for a review of the Nottingham show in
the coming weeks. On second thoughts after witnessing the return of Twisted Sister to the UK at a packed and sweaty Astoria last night I am glad I have a little bit of recovery time. Hot, balmy nights may make for good festivals but they sure as hell make club and theatre gigs uncomfortable... Look for a review of the Twisted Sister show in the next couple of days. Watch out also for upcoming reviews of new albums by Ten (Return To Evermore) and Hodson (This Strange World) In the meantime the new UK Rock Charts have been uploaded and can be viewed here. Breed 77 hit the number 1 in the Rock Singles Chart with the second single from their 'Cultura' album in the shape of 'World's On Fire', although this time they don't manage to crack the Top 40 singles chart as well. On the albums front the Red Hot Chilli Peppers hit number 1 in both the Rock Charts and the Top 40 as a whole with their live set recorded in Hyde park earlier this year. |
