Zico Chain - Where Would You Rather Be
Hassle
Rating - 9/10

With 'Where Would You Rather Be', the debut single from London's Zico Chain, the band seem to be staking a claim to Queens Of The Stone Age's alt-metal crown. Built on a lolloping riff and thundering drums, Where Would You Rather Be wouldn't be out of place on “Rated R” but that's only half the story.... The real surprise here are Chris Glitheroe's vocals. Combining the laid back delivery of Josh Homme with the pure raunch of Kelly Jones at his best this guy can switch styles within a verse to devastating effect and the rest of the band are no slouches either, grooving seamlessly throughout. If Zico Chain have got an albums worth of tunes this strong then I for one can't wait to hear them. This has got to be one of the best debut singles I've heard in a long while and could well be ushering in a bright new talent on the UK scene. |
