Voodoo Six - Faith
White Knuckle
Rating - 8/10

Faith is the fist track to be lifted from Voodoo Six's forthcoming album First Hit For Free and first impressions are extremely favourable. Tight rhythms, punchy guitars and a vocalist with a powerful set of pipes all adds up to a pretty good three track affair. Further listens only serve to highlight the inherent quality of the CD. Sure there's a definite seventies influence in all three songs, both in terms of sound and arrangement, but that's no bad thing is it? Faith itself is definitely the highlight here, a groove laden riff reminiscent of Led Zeppelin and vocals that are equally as stratospheric as Robert Plant all add up to a song that works on every level. it's danceable, headbang-able and best played very, very loud. That's not to say that the other two tracks are sub standard. Both Feed My Soul & Crawl retain the seventies vibe and guitar riffery of the title track but are perhaps slightly less instant. All in all as a taster for the album proper Voodoo Six have delivered a great single and hopefully when the album arrives it proves just as good. Let us know your views on Faith
