Voicst - Acts Of Fire

Rating - 8/10

Review Deano

Voicst are a three-piece Dutch outfit with a 70’s blues rock influence coupled with a contemporary pop-rock sound. The band have just finished a successful tour in America and picked up some good press, notably from Rolling Stone magazine, who described them as “potent power pop-rock”.

‘Acts of Fire’ is a storming, up-tempo track that is delivered in a tight three minutes and is seemingly tailor made to pick up radio airplay across Europe. ‘Sgt. Gonzo’ comes with an off-the-wall lyric and a driving bass line; again, it is very catchy and immediate.

Both songs included here both bode well for forthcoming album “11-11” which is due to be released on November 13th. Incidentally, the band’s name is coined from a South African slang term meaning “manic energy”; there is certainly plenty of that on display here.

Good stuff, well worth investigating - for more information, check out www.voicst.com
