Ah, the early nineties eh? Madchester, global hypercolour t-shirts, Swampy and thinking it was funny to actually sit down when “Sit Down” by James came on at the school disco! Some things have been sensibly cast deep in to the annals of yesteryear, but thankfully not The Levellers.
Still going strong
and having just celebrated their twentieth anniversary with
a sell-out show at Brixton Academy, the Brighton-based
septet return with their familiar brand of Dexys-esque
punk-folk and violin-led anthems.
A free download and
taster from new studio album “Letters from the Underground”,
“Burn America Burn” finds The Levellers slightly older,
slightly grumpier, infinitely more establishment-baiting,
but no less passionate than they ever have been, it
veritably races along on a summery wave and will delight
fans and new listeners alike.
