The Levellers - A Life Less ordinary/The Cholera Well

On The Fiddle

Rating - 8/10

Review John Lewins

Believe it or not the Levellers have been around for twenty years now. It's hard to imagine that the Brighton based folk/punk anarchist collective have been spreading their message for two whole decades now but they have. In keeping with the bands punk ethic and to mark this monumental anniversary this double A side single will be available as a free download (from www.levellers.co.uk) and as such really needs no review, you've got nothing to lose, go and get it now!

I'm only half joking as well, if you've any sort of even passing interest in the band go and get these two tracks as soon as you're able (from the website as of March 3rd) as all of the Levellers trademarks are in evidence, catchy violin melody and intelligent lyrics and both tracks bode well for forthcoming album “Letters From The Underground”.

For me “Cholera Well” just edges it with its more insistent jig like rhythm sticking in the brain better than the more polished “A Life Less Ordinary” but either track would be worth your hard earned and the fact you can get both for free means there should be only one destination for your browser come Monday morning.........
