Review Dougie

DON’T BE LATE said the editor but as per usual I am ,so WHAT DO I KNOW ?

Saga are a Canadian prog band that are very keyboard heavy and on some albums all the members have been playing keyboards at the same time. ONCE UPON  A TIME back in 1988ish a few pals were very into Saga and I’ve owned and heard most of their albums, however the last album I actually bought was the two CD set 'Best Of The Works released way back in 1991 on BMG, although another best of is due out on the at the end of May 2006.

To be honest in the fifteen  years since that purchase nothing much has changed in the Saga camp, other than fact that the band may nwo be booking holidays with holiday company that they share a name with. Coming on like the Pet Shop Boys/Erasure if they knew how to play rock music with the added stunning guitar work of Ian Critchon and the unique Michael Sadler on vocals Saga have always have had there own sound that has been very influence on many prog bands over the years. If it's not broke why fix it seems to be the bands motto and from album opener 'That's As Far As I'll Go' to clsoing track O'n The Other Side' you are listening to a band who know their own sound inside out and also know excactly what their fans want and require from a Saga album and proceed to deliver it in spades.

My HUMBLE STANCE is this, if you’ve not heard anything from Saga before then Trust is as good place to start as any as it features everything  the band has to offer on one album. if you like it then get yourself a best of and work through the back catalogue.  A good album for Saga fans and novices alike.
