Another look into the realms of Indian metal scene with Rise Of The Eastern Blood gives us some very interesting things indeed. First off is Demonic Resurrection, space age metal for the future. Opener “Journey To Solaris” sounds like an unholy hybrid of Cradle Of Filth, Sonic Syndicate, Nile and Nightwish, operatic, futuristic and mysteriously heavy all at the same time. Demonic Resurrection have latched onto something potentially very interesting. “Celestial Disharmony” sounds like the Rush classic “2112” put into a blender with Fear Factory, epic yet mechanical, structured yet frenzied, magnificent yet brutal. “Beyond The Darkness” is six minutes of futuristic, synthesised and poetic music that is absolutely amazing, reciting more of a story than any old lyrics. These guys are certainly the most promising band from the East, and I certainly hope they manage to crack the European market, with their space age sounds. Severe Dementia are up next with their military precision. “Entombment Of The Traitor” starts off with a rolling drum beat like you would expect from a civil war battle charge then the insanely brutal vocals and distorted guitars kick in, unleashing a salvo from the speakers. “Credence Of Fort William” is very reminiscent of Bolt Thrower but with much more frantic guitar work, the song itself is the perfect description of any historical battle you care to think of. “The Bengal Regiment and “Howls Of Mushidabad” both sum up the band's interesting sound, its not so much battle metal, more warfare metal whilst “Strangled By Treason And Forgery” features more interesting guitar work throughout, as well as a rather cool solo.
Dusk on the other hand have gone down a more tribal path
than the two bands that preceded them on this split CD.
Imagine a Karl Sanders’ solo album fused with “Roots” by
Sepultura then add some blast beats and more riffs than you
can shake a stick at and your there. Surprisingly for what
is intrinsically a death metal band Dusk use lots of
fantastic guitar solos, especially in “Dead Heart Dawning”.
They may not be the best band on the CD but they are still
worth checking out. Let us know your views on Rise Of The Eastern Blood
