Phil Vincent is
one hell of a busy guyand White Noise is his tenth album
overall and, as well as his solo output, he's also been
responsible for both the Trajick and the Circular Logik
releases over the last twelve months. With White Noise what
we have is a true solo artist at work in that Vincent writes
and records everything himself, the result of which is a
good hard rocking album without a ballad in site.
As for the music, well in the main
Vincent comes across in White Noise as a blend of Dokken,
Harem Scarem and the Beatles and the highlights are many and
varied, in fact it's a struggle to find a weak link amongst
any of the thirteen tracks on offer. If there is any
criticism to be made it's not with the music but rather with
the packaging which, to say the least, is minimalist. But
then again it's not the packaging that is the main concern
here but rather what is contained therein. How he keeps the
standards so high given his prolific output I don't know,
but he does. White Noise, as an album, features an
uncluttered production compared to his last two band outings
and as such it makes for a raw, live sounding album and one
that you can play over and over again without becoming
bored. Basically it's just great hard rock.
