NFD - When The Sun Dies
Jungle
Rating - 8/10

Having former members of seminal goth legends Fields of the Nephilim amongst your ranks certainly does your kudos no harm, but NFD drew such high praise with the release of their debut album “No Love Lost” in 2004, that people tilted their heads and took notice regardless of their musical background. It’s murky, heavy stuff from the offset on new single “When the Sun Dies”, a hypnotic, rhythmic metronome of flailing drums and caustic vocals from Peter “Bob” White over a windswept but edgy industrial landscape. Oddly, for once, the remixed version of the main track brings even more to proceedings, reminiscent of that blood-soaked, opening nightclub scene in Blade. It’s already dark blueprint mashed up with a throbbing, trance-like, tribal beat that pummels away through eight and a half minutes until you are almost too exhausted to dig out your Nephilim t-shirt and eyeliner. Almost. Let us know your views on When The Sund Dies
