“Linchpin” are a south London based band who are reputed to be punk-rocksters.  They are made up of Joey on vocals, Paul on guitar, Olle on drums and Mike on bass, and probably the most impressive fact about this group of up and coming youngsters is that they are all only 16.  What ever happened to the good old days of misspent youth hanging around on street corners and at the local pool/snooker hall?  It would seem that the only time the members of this band ever “hung around on corners” was to further their own careers and shove demo copies of their music into the hands of whatever musical idols they could happen across.  Luck would have it that they managed to shove a demo into the hands of Good Charlotte’s front men Benji and Joel Madden, the rest, as they say, may well go down in the annals of Rock history. 

After listening to the single “All I Want” quite a few times I was finding it hard to look on them as punk – rocksters, more an edgier style of pop rock.  They have good form to their music, a good bass and drum beat, impressive guitar work from Paul with the customary riffs thrown in for good measure and vocals from Joey that will work very well in the mainstream world.  As there was only one track on the CD I received I had to check out their “myspace” account to get a broader picture, and after listening to “Hypochondriac” I could see where they get the tag of punk – rocksters from, but that seemed to be the exception rather than the rule.  I would rather look on them as playing good mainstream Rock with some punk edge and attitude thrown in for good measure. 

They play together with a style and maturity far beyond their young years and seem to have the abilities to go far – chart success could just be around the next corner for these rising stars.
