Johnny Panic - Dislocation

Repeat

Rating - 7/10

Review John Lewins

Not many bands have a frontman who goes in for cage fighting, one who actually competes rather than simply watching, being that the usual pursuits for rock vocalists are generally much less likely to involve too much physical exertion......Rob Solly however does just that and this means that he's likely to be bigger than me and therefore only good things will be said about this release......

All joking aside, ahead of Johnny Panics second album "The Good Fight" due mid-November comes this lead single due at the end of October and if "Dislocations" up-tempo, melodic, post punk is an indicator of the album we could be in for an alt-rock treat to rival Biffy Clyros "Puzzle" for album of the year so far.

It's true that you could broadly lump Johnny Panic in with a host of bands who ply their trade in a similar fashion but with a sound that's harder edged than Kids In Glass Houses and slightly less polished than Lostprophets these guys have the right amount of edge and hook in the two tracks here and whether its the guitar hooks in "Dislocation" or the chorus in "Time I Got Up Off My Knees" once these tunes are in the brain you can't shift them, recommended.
