Infadels - Make Mistakes

Wall Of Sound

Review Ian Sutherland

“Make Mistakes” is the first single from the forthcoming second album by Infadels, a London band who like to mix up acoustic, indie, rock and electronic influences. It’s touted on the press release as containing serious guitar thrashing but this is unmistakably a pop single and while it drives along the guitars are gentle and polite rather than full throated. As a piece of indie-pop it ticks all the right boxes but the chorus is somewhat underwhelming. Of course it’s picking up airplay on Radio 1 already so maybe I’m just not the right audience for it!

There are 3 more tracks on the single. “Black Eyes & Love Bites” stomps along with a nice mix of guitar hooks and electronic swirls. The chorus again lets the song down too but it is preferable to that of the “A side” at least. The final two tracks are electronic dance floor remixes of “Make Mistakes” and these perhaps suit the song better, it’s definitely more convincing than their attempts at rocking out!

If indie-pop is your thing then maybe this is for you but if you like your guitars loud and proud give it a bodyswerve.
