“Queen Of The World” is
the latest single from Norwegian singer songwriter Ida Maria
following hot on the heels of earlier single “Stella”
released on the Waterfall/RCA label.Ida’s vocals have been
compared to Janis Joplin and also Bjork and anyone who has
heard “Stella” will be able to understand why these
observations were made.
On “Queen Of The World”
she has gone for a different approach, dropping the slightly
husky, gravely angst and the cheeky whispers and going for a
straight ahead exuberant, happy go lucky singing style. You
can instantly understand why as the subject of the song
is all about feeling good about yourself and the confidence
that sometimes comes after you’ve had a few drinks.
Musically the song's
chorus is very strong and there are melodies throughout
which you can’t help but want to sing-a-long with and should
work well live.Ida is definitely an
artist who can break through to the masses, her quirky
individualism really comes through in the music and if the
material on the forthcoming album is of the standard of
this and previous single “Stella” I think it’s safe to say
that she could become a household name.
