No, I had never heard of them either. But if you like a 70’s influenced blues rock then this is worth checking out. They claim to be loosely Australian but that’s a tenuous link at best. The guitarist Anthony De Lemos is French, the singer Lex Koritni is Australian, this set was recorded in Paris, mixed in Vancouver and mastered in New York so I presume they have up to date passports!

The influence of Jimmy Barnes is writ large, but that’s just initially, there is a very polished production which gives you a swift kick in the balls when the guitars crop up, something the Oz Barnes never really grasped. 

The barroom boogie of Dirty Letter opens the album, and I have to admit to groaning and thinking “Here we go again not another Antipodean pub rock outfit”. I soon modified my idea when the next three tracks, all graced with layers of guitars and a great voice, swaggered through the speakers. It’s all done with a nod to Bad Company and The Faces, complete with the now traditional themes of women/ whisky / regret but done with enough élan to add a twist on the formula to satisfy. 

It’s difficult to know which market this album is aimed at. There is definitely one eye on Koritni’s home continent, but elements of mid west road rock creep in as well as the aforementioned 70’s English sound. Who knows, it could bust open all three frontiers, good luck to them. 

At a touch under forty minutes with eleven tracks all mostly around the three and a half minute mark there are enough good tunes to maintain your curiosity. Every song has a catchy riff and a distinguished chorus with some tidy lead breaks thrown in. It’s not stunningly original, but there is enough invention to justify the time listening.

I would be interested to catch them live, if they get a bassist and tour, as a good time would be undoubtedly had by all. ( I know a girl like that!!)
