Gavin Rossdale has lived the last fifteen years or so in the spotlight, initially as frontman with post-grunge Brit rockers Bush and more recently as family man and gossip column-botherer, Mr Gwen Stefani.
The imminent release
of his debut solo album “Wanderlust” sees him returning to
writing and performing, and “Love Remains The Same” is his
first single. Whilst it employs Rossdale’s gravely vocals,
soaring guitars and ear for a killer tune to great effect,
one can’t help hoping that “Wanderlust” contains some more
heavier numbers a la “Swallowed” or “Everything Zen” from
his Bush days, as this is distinctly middle-of-the-road.
An album full of
tracks like “Love Remains The Same” may be more than his
existing fan base could handle, but the quality of
production from the legendary Bob Rock, the penmanship from
Rossdale himself and the promise of heavier numbers in the
PR blurb should mean that his days in the musical wilderness
are coming to an end.
