Gallows - Just Because You Sleep Next To Me Doesn't Mean You're Safe
Warners

Lets just make one thing clear from the outset, I love Gallows as much as the next man, but I'm starting to question the motives behind some of the product being put out by the band. Why? Well take this new single for example, this is the 3rd proper single from 2006's “Orchestra Of Wolves” and could be classed as the 4th if you include the fact that “Starin At The Rude Bois” was included as a bonus track on the expanded, re-released version of “Orchestra Of Wolves” last year. This single is also released ahead of a live CD/DVD package due at the beginning of next month all of which adds up to a total of 4 singles and three CD albums based on the same set of songs, the majority of which are at least two years old, clearly the band are having to pay back that Warners advance money, and then some. What about the music I hear you cry? Well on that score “Just Because You Sleep Next To Me Doesn't Mean You're Safe” doesn't disappoint. Built around an angular riff with an insistent rumbling bassline and Frank Carters full on vocal delivery meaning all the Gallows trademarks are there to be enjoyed. Whether anybody else thinks this is a worthwhile purchase is a decsion for you all to make, clearly I'm not so sure. Not a criticism of the band or the music necessarily, but unless Gallows have relinquished all control over their releases maybe they should concentrate on getting a second album out instead of wringing as much as possible out of their debut.
