With this, the 2nd single from “Orchestra Of Wolves”, released to coincide with the Watford quintet's latest jaunt around these shores (to bigger venues this time around) you can have a choice of b-side depending on which version you go for. With cover ‘If Credit’s What Matters I’ll Take Credit’ by cult San Diego punks Hot Snakes is on the CD version possibly being the most intriguing . There's also a couple of Gallows originals, live from an XFM session, backing either version of the vinyl (“Sick Of Being Sick” and “Come Friendly Bombs” the former being a new track aired on the expanded version of “Orchestra Of Wolves released earlier this summer). There are probably a few people wondering what all the fuss is surrounding Gallows, and its probably fair to say that they aren't to everyone's taste. However the UK hardcore scene is enjoying its highest level of mainstream exposure for years (ever?) and this is partly due to the clamour surrounding the band's original release of “Orchestra Of Wolves” last year and their growing reputation as a fierce live act. The single “In The Belly Of A Shark” has all the trademark elements of a Gallows tune. It's up-tempo, driven along on some relentless drumming, rumbling bass and a slightly off-kilter riff, all topped off with Frank Carters intense vocals and as such makes as good an introduction to the band as anything else from “Orchestra Of Wolves”. Definitely recommended. |
