Forever In Terror - Restless In The Tides
Metal Blade
Rating - 6/10

Formed near Cleveland, Ohio, always a metal stronghold, Forever In Terror are still only teenagers yet show an amazing maturity in their music. This is of the extreme metal Hardcore thrash variety and ‘Restless in the Tides’ is a very creditable effort. The band have definite potential but sadly all the clichés that are abundant in this type of metal are plastered all over the place. After several plays nothing really stood out. Yet neither could I fault the passion and intensity of what they are trying to achieve. Opening number ‘Destroy Us’ has some dodgy lead guitar but apart from that the musicianship is pretty spot on. Using a second vocal (presumably guitarist Johnny Burke) pays dividends on ‘The Chosen One’ as the welcome melody counteracts everything nicely. They sound a bit like POD when using this technique and it does at least give them another string to their bow. Important in this genre when you need to stand out above the millions of new bands. Forever In Terror have produced a very solid, if unspectacular, album in Restless in the Tides. If this kind of metal is your thing this definitely does the job. I wish them well with it. |
