Desaster - 666, Satan's Soldiers Syndicate

Metal Blade

Rating - 10/10

Review John Consterdine

'Listening to the first few tracks of Satan’s Soldier’s Syndicate you get the impression that Desaster aren’t just any old black metal band. They are in fact playing no nonsense black metal, but with the speed and intensity of a thrash metal band, so if Kerry King (Slayer) joined Dimmu Borgir you could begin to imagine what Desaster sound like.

Infernal, Sataniac, Tormentor and Odin have come along way since their original demo back in 1994, with countless releases under their spiked belts, but now they have the backing they deserve and should be burning down a church near you soon!

From start to finish this is an album of epic proportions, their isn’t one bad track on here, it is possibly the best black metal album of the year, joint first with Dimmu Borgir’s “In Sorte Diaboli”.

From the opening track, “Satan’s Soldiers Syndicate” right through to “More Corpses For The Grave”, you can hear Desaster constantly pushing the boundaries of black metal and incorporating their own no nonsense attitude towards the genre, into their music.

Stand out tracks from this metal opus are, the title track, “Angel Extermination” and “Vile We Dwell”. They even have a guest appearance from A.A. Nemtheanga from Irish metal heads Primordial.

If you like Black Metal this certainly should be in your collection, it is what black metal started out to achieve in the first place, reincarnated!
