Demiricous - Two (Poverty)

Metal Blade

Rating - 9/10

Review John Consterdine

If I am going to be honest here when I first received this CD I had never heard of Demiricous. Initial thoughts judging from the cover were that Demiricous were a death metal or grindcore band. However as soon as “Never Enough Road” kicks in, I realized, to mis-quote a cliché never judge a CD by its cover..

Sounding like “Chaos AD” era Sepultura having their way with straight edge hardcore mobsters Minor Threat, Demiricous are not a band to take lightly. Whilst Tow (Poverty) may only be their second album for Metal Blade, from the way it sounds you’d think they are metal veterans. Even though you can hear elements of thrash, hardcore punk, and death metal in its grooves, Demiricous cannot be defined by any of those three genres!

With tracks like “Knuckle Eye”, “Acid Lung” and “Stress Fetish”, you are left with no choice but to headbang! These guys play in your face, heavy ass metal, and I’m afraid if you don’t like it, you’ll just have to get used to it! Riff laden “Appreciation For Misery” is definitely the most memorable track, even though throughout CD is laden with a fantastic selection of songs, basically twelve tracks without any filler or fault.

Demiricous are certainly a band to watch, and you will definitely be hearing a lot more about them in the near future!
