St Petersburg is the new single by Teesside trio Dartz! 

No, I hadn’t heard of them either and having heard this single, I wouldn’t be too bothered if I didn’t again. Perhaps it’s my age…I’m clearly far too old to be reviewing anything by a band that had to interrupt the recording of their debut album to pop home and get their A Level results. 

They have certainly garnered some positive quotes from the likes of NME, XFM and Music Week, but I’m not sure this is really going to appeal to a genuine rock audience. It sounds like what it is…a bunch of students who “for a joke” swapped instruments, with the drummer becoming the guitarist and vice versa. 

Dartz! are currently out on tour supporting “Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly” who certainly deserve a mention for having one of the best names around, if nothing else. You probably won’t be too surprised to hear that I will not be checking them out.
