The Culprit - The Stable Sessions EP
7/10
Review John Lewins
|
The Culprit have been together almost two years and with this, their 3rd EP are peddling an up-tempo, contemporary alt-rock that bodes well for any full length the band have got planned. The band cite influences as diverse as Nine Inch Nails and Deftones but are, on this showing at least, more in tune with the latter with “The Stable Sessions” opening with a distorted scream of “Lights Out' on “Blackball” and especially on “Requiem” which has a nice mix of tempos and moods with some hardcore screaming really adding to the intensity. “Kill Or Cure” has an almost Lostprophets-like feel in its choppy rhythms and Joel's drums really drive the track along and all three tracks here show the band have a keen ear for mixing melody and power and know where to inject a bit of light and shade into the mood as well. Well worth checking out. |
