“Dead Man’s Paradise” is the debut single from London based Crowning Glory and follows on from their 2007 EP, “Path To Glory”, which was fortunately also included amongst the review material. This song certainly gives the listener a good idea of what this band are about. It’s a fast and furious mix of soaring vocals from Richard Alexander, coupled with a lightning fast guitar solo from Tony Draper, all frantically driven along by the intense drum and bass line provided by remaining band members, Grant Eskriett and Nick Smith. This single and the material on “Path To Glory” show the band to be steeped the heavy metal traditions of early Iron Maiden, with a bit of Judas Priest and even Black Sabbath thrown in for good measure. No ballads here, it’s high energy, gut-wrenching songs deal with the darker side of life and any one of the studio tracks from the EP would have been made as good a choice for the single release, in particular “Sea Of Dead Dreams”. The EP also contains a live version of “Dead Man’s Paradise” which, if anything, is even more frantic than the studio track but not at the expense of musical quality and Alexander’s live vocals are particularly strong. Overall, anyone with an interest in the aforementioned bands or classic metal in general, should check out this single and the EP. Let us know your views on Dead Man's Paradise
