Review Al Hey

New York progressive rockers Coheed & Cambria are musically riding the crest of a wave at this moment in time thanks to their album “No World For Tomorrow” which has proved a hit both in the UK and their homeland. Not only are fans lapping up their music but they are also turned up in force to support their heroes during their ten-date UK tour (as part of the Kerrang tour).

“Feathers” has been chosen as the first single to be released from the “No World For Tomorrow” album and it has to be said they’ve made a fine choice. The track is a very approachable slice of melodic progressive rock laden with hooks and catchy musical twists and turns and makes an ideal introduction to the band for anyone who has yet to sample their musical delights.

For those people who already have the album and are familiar with the song the band have come up with a great way to entice them to also pick the single up. When the full single release is issued it will feature ten live versions of “Feathers”. One from each location of the bands current UK tour. I think that is an ingenious idea and means it will be a great memento for all the fans that come out to see the band. One thing that is for sure is that each performance will be slightly different from the next as a big part of the bands live approach to music is improvisation.

Without doubt the band have picked the obvious lead off single from the album and with the bonus live tracks it deserves to be a winner.
