A four piece hailing from Stoke-on-Trent, Centrifuge have released a couple of EP’s to date. It’s difficult to form much of an opinion on just two tracks but they remind me a little of Manic Street Preachers during some of their more melodic moments and this is a listenable enough affair, without being anything really special. Browsing through the links on the Website I was surprised by some earlier reviews comparing them to Nirvana. For me, such comparisons are well wide of the mark – the vocal on ‘Carnival/carnivore’ is vaguely reminiscent of a couple of moments on ‘Bleach’ but musically they are in an altogether different place to Cobain and Co.
