Breed 77 - Alive (single)

Albert

Rating - 7.5/10

Review Steve Cummings

Alive is the first single to be released from Breed 77's forthcoming third studio album entitled 'In My Blood (En Mi Sangre) which is scheduled to hit shops on July 3rd. Anyone familiar with Breed 77's earlier work will have no difficulty relating to 'Alive'. The Latin tinged rhythms of the Gibraltar band are still in place but 'Alive' is perhaps a more eclectic than there previous output. Indeed the major influence that can be heard in the song is System Of A Down.

This influence is even more in evidence on 'Apathy', the first of two non album tracks that make up this release. The changing textures of this song, from the riff heavy intro to the staccato delivery of the vocals and the ever changing time signatures and keys simply reeks of SOAD but luckily the track stands on its own merits . Third song 'Steal A Moment' is slightly more laid back in feel and less diverse in its nature but none the worse for it.

The three tracks certainly make for a strong release and as neither 'Apathy' nor 'Steal A Moment' are going to feature on the new album it certainly bodes well for that particualr release.
