Blessed By A Broken Heart - Move Your Body

Century Media

Rating - 9.5/10

Review John Consterdine

Blessed By A Broken Heart are a band aiming to bring back everything from the 1980’s, the hair, the clothes and even the cheesy, but infectiously catchy metal. The best way to describe their sound is a fusion between Bon Jovi’s “Slippery When Wet” album, Glassjaw side project Head Automatica then rounded off with a slab of hard hitting metal!

This two track sampler is only a taster of their forthcoming album “Pedal To The Metal”, however they are two fantastic tracks. “Move Your Body” incorprates keyboards reminiscent of the Miami Vice theme tune, Powerslave era riffs, gang vocals and cheesy lyrics, but you have to love it. This is the band’s answer to “Livin’ On A Prayer” or “2 Minutes To Midnight”, in a few years time it has the potential to be one of the defining songs of the decade.

Second track ”Show Me What You Got” is slightly heavier, again laden with killer keyboards but this time also filled with crushing riffs. Its like a combination of the two metal scenes in the 1980’s, Glam and Thrash, but with an added kick and some face melting solos.

This band will rule 2008 without a doubt and you’ll have to “take your best shot” to fault them!
