Following on from their recent triumphant shows with Avenged Sevenfold, Black Tide are currently back in the UK in support of their debut album Light From Above. There is therefore no better time for them to release their first single ‘Shockwave’. The song displays everything that is good about Black Tide, from it’s opening Kill ‘Em All Metallica style riffs through it’s catchy chorus to the guitar soloing. With ‘Shockwave’ they manage to take the old thrash sound introduced by bands like Metallica and Megadeth and merge it with some classic rock to give one of the highlights of their album. It is all too easy to get ‘I’m a shockwave and I’ll take your fuckin’ liiiiiiiiiife’ in your head, and pretty difficult to remove it. It’s a shame that the single only has the clean and explicit versions of the song, and there is no unreleased track to make the package more attractive. However, as a single ‘Shockwave’ is a great choice for the band and it is bound to become one of their anthems. Let us know your views on Shockwave
